Literacy at Hope

​Hope Community Charter School is rooted in our mission to provide a literacy rich learning environment - that is why we are proud to prioritize the Science of Reading in our foundational literacy curriculum. Our comprehensive approach to literacy means our educators utilize evidence-based tools that systematically and explicitly support student growth in phonemic awareness, phonics, word recognition, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and beyond. Science of Reading aligned curriculum empowers students to take ownership of their literacy through learned skills and strategies. Paired with literacy rich classroom environments, our students transform from learning to read to reading to learn. 

Why Science of Reading? We know it is best for our students. Research shows 30 percent to 40 percent of kids need explicit instruction. We want to give our families and students the best chance to achieve literacy by providing the best resources. Our educators and families are partners in literacy, and our investment in Science of Reading provides the foundation for success.​
